About Us

Indigenous-owned. Relationship-driven. Built for major projects.

First Alliance Indigenous Capital Inc. is a 100% Canadian Indigenous-owned project financing company. We exist to connect Indigenous-led opportunities with the capital and collaboration needed to move projects forward.

Ownership

100% Canadian Indigenous-Owned

First Alliance Indigenous Capital Inc. is wholly owned and operated by Indigenous Canadians. This is not a partnership structure or a majority-ownership arrangement — it is a company built from the ground up by Indigenous people, for Indigenous-led opportunity.

Our ownership structure reflects our mandate: to advance meaningful Indigenous participation in major project financing, and to ensure that the economic benefits of that work flow back to Indigenous communities and entrepreneurs.

Our Purpose

Why We Exist

First Alliance Indigenous Capital was founded on the belief that Indigenous communities, businesses, and entrepreneurs deserve access to the same calibre of project financing available to any major developer — without having to navigate systems that were not designed with them in mind.

We bring together private-sector experience, government insight, and a First Nations business perspective to provide structured financing for qualifying projects. Our work is grounded in relationships, transparency, and a long-term commitment to Indigenous economic participation and ownership.

Leadership

Our Team

Barry Payne

Barry Payne

Chief Executive Officer

First Alliance Indigenous Group

Barry brings a distinctive combination of private-sector experience, federal government insight, and a First Nations business perspective to his role as CEO of First Alliance Indigenous Group. He leads the company's work in project financing and lending for major projects involving Indigenous communities and businesses as sponsors, developers, and owners.

Before returning to the private sector, Barry spent four years leading the Indigenous Entrepreneurship Centre of Engagement at Procurement Assistance Canada. In that role, he supported small and medium-sized enterprises across Canada in navigating federal procurement, overcoming barriers, and pursuing new business opportunities. This experience deepened his understanding of government processes and strengthened his ability to connect businesses, communities, and decision-makers.

At First Alliance Indigenous Group, Barry brings these perspectives and relationships together to help connect Indigenous-led opportunities with the capital and collaboration needed to move projects forward. His leadership reflects a commitment to fostering economic growth, advancing meaningful Indigenous participation and ownership, and creating opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs and equity-deserving groups.

For Barry, this role represents a full-circle opportunity: bringing his experience back to the private sector, continuing his work as a connector, and giving back through projects that support lasting economic opportunity.
